About Foodstuffs Gourmet Foods & Catering
Modeled after the European Market shopping concept, Foodstuffs opened its first store in Glencoe, Illinois in 1979. By showcasing the finest cheeses, chocolates, wines, breads and pastries in dramatic display cases managed by a caring and knowledgeable staff, gourmet food shopping has been made both exciting and accessible. With our ability to provide unique culinary ingredients in step with the new wave of imaginative cooking trends Foodstuffs quickly gained in popularity.
The Glencoe kitchen originally was designed to feature guest chefs and cooking instructors who demonstrated their progressive cooking techniques and styles. While this trend was short-lived, customers had now become accustomed to a wide range of tastes and cuisine. To meet this new customer demand, our chefs began creating daily menus, offering entrees, salads and side dishes with both the flavors and fresh ingredients our customers desired. As an enhancement to our customer focus, our chefs created additional special seasonal menus for holidays and other special occasions. With the growing acceptance of the specialty food business, Foodstuffs now offers a wide range of packaged, ethnic and regional foods/products.
Duplicating the style, products and services of the successful Glencoe store, Foodstuffs opened its second location in Evanston, Illinois in July, 1988. The Evanston location was large enough to include fresh meat and seafood counters. In response to the increasing volume of food production, we built a central commissary behind the retail store. Additional office space completed the Evanston expansion. In July, 1997 Foodstuffs opened a third store in Glenview and in July, 1999 Foodstuffs opened the Lake Forest store.
Since 1988, Foodstuffs has been the forerunner in dining trends and has aggressively responded to changing times. Recognizing the shifts towards health and fitness, we developed food lower in fat and cholesterol, yet high in fiber and energy. Though Foodstuffs is not a health food store, we continue to strive to create foods that are both healthy and delicious.
Foodstuffs will always watch closely the shifts in consumer preference, continue to be a leader in the marketplace and excel in product and service.
At Foodstuffs, we want to provide a challenging and rewarding work experience for everyone. Our reputation for offering quality food products and services by a caring and knowledgeable staff in a beautiful setting has been well earned. As a condition of employment, we expect each employee to continue to positively contribute to that tradition with the highest level of performance. Your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and attention to superior customer service will reflect your commitment to our purpose.
Our philosophy is to work toward the steady growth of sales and profits of Foodstuffs, while adding new people, technology and equipment as needed to sustain growth being ever mindful to reward individuals exhibiting outstanding contribution toward achieving our goals.
